General Questions about RCS
RCS (Rich Communication Services) is the successor to traditional SMS. Unlike SMS, RCS enables sending high-resolution images, videos, interactive buttons and carousels directly in the recipient's native messaging app - no app download required.
SMS is limited to 160 characters of text per segment, while RCS supports up to 3,072 characters, images, videos, buttons and interactive elements. RCS also offers read receipts, typing indicators and verified sender profiles with your brand logo.
RCS is supported by most modern Android smartphones using Google Messages or Samsung Messages. Apple iPhones have supported RCS since iOS 18 (Autumn 2024).
SendRCS offers an automatic SMS fallback. If a recipient cannot receive RCS, the message is automatically delivered as SMS. You can configure the fallback text individually.
No, RCS messages are displayed directly in the recipient's default messaging app. No additional app download is required.
